Ph. D. Program

Courses offered at GINM are divided into four categories: Multimedia (M), Networking (N), Systems & Applications (A), and Data Science & AI (D). Each category includes courses taught by GINM faculty and courses approved by the Curriculum Committee. With the director’s approval, students may apply for up to 3 credits of course exemption for related courses taken in other departments.

Ph.D., Program
1. To graduate, students must complete at least 18 GINM credits (or 30 credits for those admitted directly to the Doctoral Program), excluding credits earned from Doctoral Dissertation, Special Project and Seminar courses. Among these credits, students must take at least 6 credits from either the Multimedia or Networking category, and at least 3 credits from each of the remaining two categories. A single course can only count toward one category; overlapping credit recognition is not permitted.
2. Required courses include
(1) Seminar (must be taken for at least four semesters prior to graduation),
(2) Special Project (required every semester until the student qualifies to enroll in the Doctoral Dissertation course), and
(3) Doctoral Dissertation.
